I hope everyone had the merriest of Christmases....I did. But now that the holiday is officially over, I'm experiencing some stress I hadn't planned on. The first of the year rejections. SIGH. I know that 2006 will garner more rejections for me as I've sent more things out the end of the year. Still, it's with an expectant heart that I check my email in box....fear and excitement mingle, along with anticipation and yes, dread. Am I the only one?

You are NOT the only one! I'm having the same jitters. LOL Braving the storm and hoping for a positive response is a challenge, but I'm determined to do it.
I think I cope a little bit differently. I have to keep an Excel file to keep track of my subs because once they hit the mail, I forget all about them. Then again, I haven't subbed anything longer than an article, though. It'll be different with books, I'm sure.
Yeah, I've got a few hooks in the water I know I'll get nibbles or rejections on soon. If I think about it too much, I get sick to my stomach.
Doing stuff around the house helps. Sort of. Well, at least the house is clean. :)
I'm there with ya, girl. It should be an interesting year, though. Can't wait to see what happens. Just hope I survive it! LOL!
I had a wonderful Christmas. I'm glad yours was fabulous, Robin :) Maybe 2006 will bring amazing news for you . . . I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you. I think it's perfectly normal to feel queasy with anticipation though.
I gotta tell you this story--Mary G. has a "word" for each year. I didn't really participate last year, but when I read her post about it yesterday, the first word that popped into my head was PERSEVERANCE.
ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDING ME? NO WAY DO I WANT PERSEVERANCE FOR MY WORD OF THE YEAR!
So it looks like God might be planning an extra hard year for me. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.
My agent is pitching my suspense at the end of January, so I have several months of waiting ahead of me.
Camy
robin- I'm not yet at the point of sending any of my writing out, but I know when I do I'm going to be as nervous as a caterpillar in a chicken house! ahhhhhhh! lol
I was waiting for the postal increase to take effect in January, so I didn't make anyone mad with insufficient postage!
My word for the year...procrastination!!Yikes!
I'm in the loop with ya, Robin. I'm waiting to hear back from a publisher that states an 8 week turnaround... that was four months ago.
I check my email at least 10 times a day now to make sure there is no rejection. :)
Yep I'm right there with you... oh wait, no I'm not. Have to actually submit something to be waiting eh?? LOL 2006 is my year for that! And you can make fun of me all year. ;-)
Robin, glad your Christmas was great! Yes, checking email can be drag when on submission when rejections may come in. But what can you do, but keep going, keep writing and keep submitting. =D Good luck!
I have my outlook express set to check my email EVERY MINUTE. Oh, I'm SO pathetic! But glad to know I'm not alone! :)
BTW, the mail ran today and nothing in it...and no emails today! WHEW, I made it through the end of 2005 with no rejections! Here's praying all we're looking forward to in 2006 comes true for all of us!
