Think you're having a bad day in writerville? No, I can do you one better! I promise.
First off, the series me and my cps wrote together that was in review? Well, we got rejected. HOWEVER, the review board LOVED the storyline/concept...in her words, it is an "incredible" story.....ALL the writing was "great" and got "very high marks". SIGH....but I'm remaining positive. No, really, I am. LOL
Now, to top it ALL off, and really let you know you're having a bad day in writerville...how about getting a SECOND rejection letter, in the same week, from the same editor at the same publishing house on the same proposal! What, you say? Yes, I got a rejection email on 01-31-06 on a proposal I had sitting on an editor's desk. Which was okay. But yesterday, I got almost the same word-for-word rejection email from the same editor on the same proposal! Now, THAT, my friends, is bad. Well, me being, well, me...I had to reply. Here's the gist of what I said..."Okay, Okay, I get it! You aren't interested in my ms. I understand. Really. I promise I won't submit it again. I don't need two rejections to grasp it" And then I went on to laugh and explain it. This poor editor emailed me back with a very humble apology, but thanked me for my "wonderful humor--I love that". Hmmm....wonder if I should send her a different proposal. My wonderful humor and all that...LOL
And finally, the "core" reason for my snit of a mood....oh wait, I shouldn't post about that. I'll just say that there are some serious issues regarding something I'm involved in that insulted me beyond belief and I'm still waiting to see how it works out. Who knows? All I will say is that life happens, but there is never any excuse to sit and pass judgement on what you don't understand. SIGH
So, how are YOU doing? Please share some good news with me! As you can see, I'm not having a great week. Let me celebrate someone's good news. Come on, tell me something great that's going on with you...even if it's that you're making awesome progress on your wip, you made finalist in a contest, you got a contract (actually, I'd better not hear that on a blog comment--I'd better be getting a phone call), or something! Let me hear from you!

LOL That sucks on the wo rejections... but as you know since I was on the phon ewith you when yhou got the second I found it funny. :-p
you know my thoughts on all of y'all getting rejected.
as for the other thing about you being insulted... do I know about that???
(((Robin))) On the bad week.
Maybe we should take out an ad: WANTED: UNPUBBED AUTHORS WITH PUBLISHING EXPERIENCE. GREAT STORY NOT REQUIRED.
sigh
I gots no stinkin' good news. It's been FIVE FRICKEN MONTHS since I sent off my submission to EC. They said five months, well, it's been five months. Where is my email from them? Not in my email box, that's for sure.
Heather, I found it rather amusing about the two rejects, too! Then again, I'm a little on the twisted side. And uh, yeah, you DO know! LOL
Thanks, Bonnie. Surely it HAS to get better, yes?
Julie...you're right, chocolate only numbs. Then again, I have thick skin, or so I've been told. I guess when my mentor made me rewrite the entire beginning of my wip last year, all 30K of it, that would do it! LOL Thanks for the well wishes, but we now know the door isn't shut and locked to us...the editor told us to "please keep in touch".
Ronie...LOL, girl! Yeah, I'm thinking of having those flyers printed up! :)
Dana...at least you haven't gotten a rejection letter! Or two! :)
Good news............Ummmm.. I realized that I get to retire in 2023............ Ok, actually that is kinda depressing...
Sorry, now I am in a snit, too. :-(
Where do I get off of this roller coaster ride? LOL! I think I will think of it that way. The goal is there somewhere, to be published, for for now I'm just gonna hold on for dear life. LOL!
Dineen has it right. It's a total roller coaster ride. Good news one minute, bad the next, and the next, and the next. :) That's a bummer about you guys. I've gotten a few of those "nice" rejections. It's nice, but it's still a rejection.
Keep plugging away. It won't be long until you're all pubbed.
And, uh, I don't have any good news either. Though I know people who do. I'm living vicariously through them.
Robin, Robin, you are making me work just Tooo hard this week.
I updated my blog again. Hopefully this will give you a "happy" until the week is finally over.
My good news? I made banana creme pudding and I didn't eat it all myself!!
:-)
Robin- Maybe you should send the same email you sent a second time!!!
I'm being bad . . . LOL
Seriously, I am sorry about the rejection you received. :(
Hang in there!
Robin, you are more than welcome to come see my 'rejection file'. That agent dude that's gonna be in Shreveport... yeah, HE rejected me. And the list goes on, and on, and on...
We could all ban together and make our own pub. co., like EC did. Just a thought.
My good news? hmmmm. I'd be hard pressed to give any. Can I make something up? (g)
{{{{Hugs, Robin.}}} I feel for you.
Tanya
Wow, and I thought two rejections from two different people in one week was bad! I feel for you, girl. I'll be praying. I wish I had some good news to blow you out of the water with...but I don't. Except, I am the ACFW Local Coordinator for West Phoenix. Does that count?
Robin,
Sorry for your bad week. Let's see... good news. It wasn't a paying market but I did get an article published in a local monthly and a "probably" from a regional monthly editor. It's not the big time, but we all have to start somewhere, right? :-)
Hope your weekend goes better.
1st of all, publication is a breath away. Just keeping knocking. You're there and that's why it's frustrating.
2nd of all, hah! The two rejection letters. I got a rejection letter from an agent that I recived several dozen times. No kidding. I was having an awful day anyway, and then I received a rejection letter. A half hour later, I got it again, and then again and again. Some computer glitch. I had to laugh and shake my head.
Um, yeah, I received a rejection on the same book twice. A verbal, 'thanks but no thanks' and then almost a year later, a letter. Oh well. I guess they were "thorough." :-P
If chocolate numbs, dark chocolate numbs darkly! No, wait. Something!
The good news from here is I still have two big bars of the dark Pound Plus--with almonds--from Trader Joe's in Tucson to soothe me in my rejections. That's it--numb and nutty! Yeah!
*sigh* What do they know, anyway? : )
(((Hugs to you and me, both!)))
