Attack of the Tree Limb

Okay, imagine this....you're driving down a rural road. It's raining, it's dark. The large live oaks trees line both sides of the road, making a canopy over the top of the road. Suddenly, there's a loud whack and your windshield cracks, right in front of your face. A tree limb has fallen, and nailed your vehicle right in front of the driver's seat. Yep, only in fiction could this happen, right? Great suspenseful opening, huh?

Nope.

It happened to me. This weekend.

I kid you not. Here're the photos. My poor, poor truck. It's in the shop now. They gave me a CHEVY little car for a rental. A CHEVY? Hello, am I NOT a Ford person? UGH It doesn't even have automatated windows/doors. I'm depressed.

And how's YOUR week going?

Oh man! Glad it was the car and not you! Just kick that Chevy around. LOL!

Glad you're okay! I recently traded in my first--and LAST--GM product. I understand the whole "Why'd they loan me a CHEVY?" question!

Good gravy, woman. Glad you're ok. Sorry about your truck.

My weekend sucked.

Ouch! So glad you are OK!
Better the truck than you. Hey, they make trucks to take abuse - precious cargo, you know?

Why do they say "strong as an oak" anyway?
Where I live, we also have oak trees lining the road. EVERY time a rainy/windy storm blows in, the aftermath always has oak debris scattered in the road. Branches, twigs, leaves. They seem such a weak tree ... where/when does the strength come from?

Maples are better. IMO

Bottom line. Glad you are OK. and thanks for sharing with us your adventure ...

Glad you're okay - betcha you're more than glad it was your truckster and not that red machine parked next to your truck!! But my big question is this -- is that your old child's rocking chair perched precariously atop that pile of stuff?

Glad the tree limb didn't deck YOU in the noggin. (So, will this end up in some manuscript?)

And hey, I drive an 8-year old Chevy without power windows or doors. I actually didn't want power windows, and the salesperson, even 8 years ago, couldn't understand that. I said, "Miami. Canals." I have this phobia about the car in a canal and me not able to open a door cause the power is lost. (Iknow, what a neurotic!) But hey, that stuff happens down here with alarming regularity.

I wouldn't mind a nice NEW Chevy. :) Oops, I think I'm coveting.

Glad you're safe. Now, ratchet up the real life incident and add it to some "killer" fiction.

Martika... it's not coveting unless you decietfully do something to get it. At least it sounds better that way! hehe

That does sound like something out of a thriller novel, Robin. I'm glad you were not injured. :)

Robin glad you weren't injured. Those are some scary pictures. I guess better the car than you. And everybody knows rentals are abused, so just kick the tires and smile until you get your car back.

Also ongrats on finaling in the Genesis contest! That's really awesome news. :)

Thanks all....glad to have my truck back and that pathetic Chevy back to Enterprise. UGH

Uh, BB, yep, that IS my rocker. Leave it YOU to notice the stuff hanging in the garage. And before you ask, yep, that's my megaphone, too. See, I actually kept something from high school that has NOT wasted away with age! LOL

Did you scream? I would have. I pray a "cuss" word wouldn't have slipped out. How scary!

Ronie Kendig said...

I'm with BB. LOL I noticed the rocker, too. To me, the condition of a garage says a lot about people (hehe...don't ask what mine looks like!!).

Wobbin, I've seen the inside of your garage a zillion times so I know how cluttered it can be, but at least you can walk through it! Our garage is wall-to-wall racecar stuff and I don't dare go in there without a clove of garlic and a wooden cross! But I digress ... I asked about the rocker because if that was your childhood chair and you weren't gonna restore it, then I wanted it! But you've since told me your plans for the chair, and I beg of you --- puhleeze don't display HER in the chair!

Heather Diane Tipton said...

hey... I know what Ronie's garage looks like. LOLOLOLOLOLOL

BB, I AM gonna display Rags in the chair and she'll be there in all her glory! You're just jealous I still have her! LOL

Deidre and I can relate, Robin. Two years ago, a tornado associated with Hurricane Frances felled a pecan tree in our driveway, totalling both of our cars. What a mess! Glad you're okay.
